Gordon-Keeble Owners Club Morning

June 22, 2024On a bright and breezy Saturday morning, Pitt Lane played host to the Gordon-Keeble Owners Club as they celebrated the 60th anniversary of this unique car. This special event marked six decades since the manufacture began in 1964.

Manufactured at Eastleigh Aerodrome, what is now Southampton Airport, the Gordon-Keeble is a rare gem with only 99 ever made. 22 of the remaining 70 classic cars still on the road made their way to Pitt Lane for the event, offering a rare opportunity to see a significant portion of the surviving models in one place. Known for its impressive top speed of 140 mph, thanks to its Chevrolet 5.3-liter V8 engine, the Gordon Keeble was said to be the fastest four-seater in the world during its time.

One of the highlights of the day was watching the convoy of these magnificent cars arrive. The procession had journeyed to Pitt Lane from their hotel the night before, taking the fabled test route that Jim Keeble himself used to test drive the cars through rural Hampshire. This scenic route, steeped in history, provided the perfect backdrop for the arrival of the convoy.

Once parked up and settled, attendees were welcomed with a selection of tea, coffee, and cake, fostering a warm and friendly atmosphere. The morning was spent exploring the Pitt Lane workshop and Michael’s showroom, where the cars were admired and their histories discussed in detail. The shared passion for the Gordon Keeble was evident as stories of restoration and ownership were exchanged among the enthusiasts.

As the event drew to a close, the Gordon Keeble Owners Club bid farewell to Pitt Lane, but their celebrations were far from over. The club members continued their anniversary festivities throughout the weekend, with more events and activities planned.

We at Pitt Lane want to thank to Gordon Keeble Owners Club for allowing us to join them in their celebrations to honour the legacy of this remarkable vehicle.
